Transition of .yu internet domains
The end of .yu domain functioning is scheduled for 30 September 2009 at midnight, in accordance with a decision of ICANN (The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers). At the time all .yu web domains and mail addresses will become unavailable. The transition between .yu Internet domains to new .rs domains was finalized at the beginning of May 2009. Approximately 4,000 domains within the old YU register are still in use.
The domain .yu is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) assigned to Yugoslavia. It is currently used in Serbia and Montenegro. The new top level domain in Serbia will be .rs and Montenegro will have .me. (more…)
